On June 5, the activity “Beautiful Shanghai, I am Acting”, to mark this year’s World Environment Day in Shanghai, was held at the main venue Huacao International Community Cultural Activity Center in Minhang District. The event was jointly organized by the Trans-Century Cross-China Environmental Protection Tour (Shanghai) Publicity Organizing Committee, Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, Shanghai Municipal Greenery and Sanitation Administration Bureau and Minhang District Government. Xiao Guiyu, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai People's Congress and Huang Rong, deputy secretary-general of the municipal government, leaders of SPC Urban Construction and Environmental Protection Committee, Shanghai Letters and Complaints Office, Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, Municipal Greenery and Sanitation Administration Bureau and Minhang District People's Congress, relevant government officials and representatives of environmental protection organizations, volunteers and the public participated in the event.
In order to better understand the people’s point of views on the urban ecological environmental protection work, the Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment and the Municipal Letters and Complaints Office disclosed the city's top 10 “golden ideas” for environmental protection at the main venue, and the garbage sorting became the hottest topic with the most “golden ideas.”
In the children's chorus of “Make China More Beautiful,” the theme activity of “Beautiful Shanghai, I am Acting” was launched at the main venue, advocating the citizens to take good care of the ecological environment as much as they care for their eyes, treat the ecological environment like their lives, and pool all resources to make Shanghai more beautiful and create an ecological city.
Leaders of the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment and the Minhang District Government made keynote speeches. All the people at the site visited the theme publicity activity of whole-procedure domestic waste sorting at Gumei Sub-District in Minhang District and an exhibition about the city’s green development achievements.
