Zhu Shiqing, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, inspected the water and ecological environment monitoring work at the city environment monitoring center on the afternoon of January 8, along with other officials in the bureau and the center.
Director Wei Huajun at the monitoring center briefed about the center’s general conditions, feature work and the current situation with the monitoring mission and mentioned about major tasks for the next stage. Deputy Director Zhang Jinping gave a report on the city’s water and ecological environment monitoring and introduced about the monitoring system construction, the surface water quality, completed work over the years and the work plan for the next step.
Officials from the bureau’s related divisions gave high comments on the work done by the monitoring center to treat water environment and projects on other environment management. Suggestions were also given on big data analysis, improving the monitoring capacity and supervision on social monitoring institutions.
Zhu praised the center’s achievement in this respect and posed further demands as the following. Firstly, optimize the city’s ecological environment monitoring system considering the general ecological picture. Secondly, constantly improve the core competitiveness with mastering of relevant core technology to provide reliable support for environment management and decision. Thirdly, strengthen the management over the whole environment monitoring industry in the city to improve the monitoring quality and make sure that the data available are true, precise and complete.
